Rep. Kirkpatrick Announces Veterans Advisory Council

(Tucson, AZ) —Today, Rep. Kirkpatrick announced the names of decorated Southern Arizonans appointed to the Veterans Advisory Council for Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District. The Veterans Advisory Council serves as a conduit for local and federal updates, policies, and programs impacting our service members, veterans and their families. The council is made up of local veteran leaders living throughout Arizona’s Second Congressional District.

“The men and women who make up this council have dedicated their lives to serving our country at home and abroad; they understand the commitment and they know struggles,”said Rep. Kirkpatrick. For me to accurately represent our district, it is critical we build this community coalition of experienced perspectives and voices. On my desk in Washington, I have a quote card that reads: ‘Because they have already paid the price, fight for veterans with all your might.

“I am proud to work directly with the Congresswoman on issues veterans face in Southern Arizona,” said Maj. Jane Strain (Ret.) from Sierra Vista, AZ. “The members of the Veterans Advisory Council are Southern Arizona veterans from across the district who have firsthand experience with the difficulties of accessing the care and benefits earned during service, but who also have the knowledge and skills to help veterans who need assistance navigating those benefits. We are excited to partner with Rep. Kirkpatrick as she faithfully represents Southern Arizona veterans in Washington.”

It’s our turn and responsibility to fight for them,” said Rep. Kirkpatrick.“I’m incredibly proud of leaders we have appointed to this council and I look forward to finding solutions that help us better deliver on the promises made to our veteran communities.”

The Veterans Advisory Council meets quarterly and if you have any further questions about meetings or advisory responsibilities, please contact
