Kirkpatrick applauds IG investigation into southern Arizona VA
WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., who in February called for the VA to investigate reports of a severe staffing crisis at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, today applauded the VA Inspector General's decision to launch an inquiry.
On Feb. 9, Kirkpatrick wrote to VA Secretary Robert McDonald to request a "thorough and immediate investigation" of allegations that severe understaffing at the Southern Arizona VA were causing "excessive wait times and decreased quality of care for Arizona veterans."
On Wednesday, the VA Inspector General's office confirmed to Kirkpatrick’s office that it will launch an investigation into the allegations.
“We owe it to our veterans to get to the bottom of these allegations about the Tucson VA,” Kirkpatrick said. “Delayed care is denied care.”
